We embrace holistic and consistent care.

Caring for our animals is in our DNA: it’s in our nature to care and it’s essential to producing quality, premium products. Our people and our partners are dedicated to it.
The supply chain is almost four years long; so for each animal to reach its genetic potential, there are no shortcuts. By focusing on the health and wellbeing of every animal, we’re giving them the best opportunity to maximise their performance.
Our animal welfare practices ensure any stress to animals is minimised throughout their life. The five key elements of animal welfare underpin our approach.
Our animal welfare practices – five key elements
-
1. Health
Protecting our animals from pain, injury, suffering and disease is non-negotiable. We’ve invested in them so it stands to reason should they become ill or injured, we’re quick to care and treat them.
-
2. Behaviour
We keep a watchful eye to ensure our cattle are behaving naturally for their species. So whether that’s playing, running, and mostly eating, we’re there for them around the clock.
-
3. Diet
We provide a suitable diet at every life stage. Our cattle are raised on pristine pastures before being grain-fed for a minimum of 380 days on a naturally developed grain ration, with no added hormones.
-
4. Companionship
Like all herd animals, cattle feel safe and happy when they’re together. We like hanging out with them too.
-
5. Environment
We provide a home for our cattle with comfortable places to rest and hide as well as spaces to roam and explore. It’s our home and workplace too.
Food Agility
We’re working with Food Agility CRC and RMIT University to improve health and welfare outcomes using continuous surveillance and monitoring of animals.
