Restoring bushfire-affected properties
In January 2026, communities and properties in central Victoria were devastated by the Longwood fire. Unfortunately, some of our properties in the Murrundindi Breeding Hub were among those heavily impacted.
The Brilliant (Gobur) and Mirrabooka (Yarck) properties were both entirely burnt out. The two properties at Molesworth were also affected, but not as severely.
Since then, we’ve been working to restore the properties to productive grazing land. Regenerating pasture cover as quickly as possible also helps to protect the soil while the ground recovers and minimises the growth of less desirable species.
We’ve aerial cropped pasture seed across Brilliant and Mirrabooka, and new fencing is being put up at all four properties. New pasture growth has taken hold, and the land is steadily recovering.
